In the Pancrase “Changing Tour 6″ main event, Yuki Kondo and Yuji Hisamatsu fought to a stalemate after three rounds in what was Kondo’s 80th professional mixed martial arts match. The event occurred at the Differ Ariake Arena in Tokyo on Sunday. The 34-year-old Kondo — a Pride Fighting Championships and UFC veteran, now holds a record of 50-23-7.
Dennis Hallman (41-12-2 MMA, 1-3 UFC) vs. John Howard (12-4 MMA, 2-0 UFC) in a welterweight battle is slated for the preliminary card of The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale. The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale is scheduled for Dec. 5 at The Palms Casino & Resort in Las Vegas.
Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh Barnett was granted a second extension Monday for an appeals hearing the fighter had requested after the California State Athletic Commission denied his re-licensure in late July due to a positive pre-test for an anabolic steroid. The new hearing will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
A 185-pound bout between newcomer Lucio Linhares (13-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Rousimar Palhares (9-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) is signed to occur on the undercard of UFC 107: Penn vs. Sanchez.
The Maximum Fighting Championship has taken the necessary steps to strip light heavyweight champion Trevor Prangley (21-5) of his title and release him from his contract. The move was required when Prangley violated his contract by signing with two smaller organizations while under contract with the MFC. Prangley’s management was informed of the violation after the first offense but Prangley agreed to fight again outside of the MFC in blatant disregard of his signed exclusive contact.
